10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
After our successful tour of the Ron Molen-designed Westshire neighborhood in West Valley in October 2010
, Salt Lake Modern is hosting a tour of four private mid-century modern homes in the St. Mary’s and Oak Hills Neighborhoods of Salt Lake City. Named for St. Mary’s of the Wasatch Academy, the private Catholic girls school that stood in the neighborhood for more than fifty years, St. Mary’s and Oak Hills developed rapidly in the mid-century era as new construction technology and affordability allowed Salt Lake City to expand up the east bench above Foothill Drive.
Salt Lake Modern’s Tour of St. Mary’s is generously sponsored by:
City Home Collective
Sparano + Mooney Architecture
The Green Ant
Utah Heritage Foundation
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Foundation
Our tours are the largest public outreach opportunity offered by Salt Lake Modern, reaching thousands of people through the event, it’s collateral materials, and advertising. If your company or group would like to sponsor the tour, contact Executive Director Kirk Huffaker via email
or phone at (801) 533-0858 ext. 105.

Tour attendees will be provided shoe covers to be worn inside all homes; attendees may also visit the homes in socks, but not barefoot. All homes are private residences and are only available to tour during the time and day of our tour. We will not reveal the names of the building owners. Nor will we reveal the addresses of homes prior to the tour. Photography is permitted only outside the homes and is prohibited inside. The tour will take approximately two hours to visit all buildings. Walking between all houses should only be undertaken by those willing and able to navigate steep terrain. Attendees are not required to visit all the buildings, and may go to each one at their leisure during open hours.
Salt Lake Modern does not guarantee that the buildings on this tour are ADA accessible. All dogs, including service dogs, are not allowed on the tour. It is strongly recommended that those that require ADA access be prepared for difficult circumstances including not being able to access certain areas of each building.
